Beer Talk - Round Eleven- Party Planning!
Beer Talk- Round Eleven is for my Dinner Party People!
Have you ever wanted to host a really cool party that will not only wow your family and friends but leave them completely confused where you learned this new skill set? Well read on my friend, because I am going to teach you how to throw the coolest party of the year!
Step 1: Figure out a theme. Now, this is where you can let your imagination run wild! You can throw a dance party, a pizza party, a beer and burgers grill out, a black tie feast, or basically anything you can think of. As long as you carry out the theme to the fullest, believe me, it’s going to be epic!
Step 2: Pick a date. Obviously, Friday and Saturday nights are top choices, but don’t bypass a Sunday Funday. Brunch and a good cook out are perfect for the laid back crew!
Step 3: Who to invite?!: Alright, now, this can be tricky. You don’t want any Debbie downers running around sprinkling their downer dust on everyone, so choose wisely! Pick those who you enjoy to be around and you know will have a great time!
Step 4: FOOD! Now, if you’re having a pizza party or burger party, we already know what you’ll be eating, but if you’re going with the black tie feast, you’ll want to toss out those chicken nuggs and step it up a notch or five. For instance, think lobster, Steak, Brussel sprouts (believe me, their delicious!), caviar (never had it but heard it’s big at fancy feasts), etc.!
Step 5: The libations: Now you have many options in this category, so we’ll make our top suggestions based on your menu.
· Serving something light, like salads or seafood? Try a Hefeweizen, Wheat Ale, or a Witbier! Something like Sam Adams (Seasonal) Cold Snap, which is an unfiltered white ale, featuring an array of springy spices and bringing a little sweetness to your meal with be a perfect fit! Another option is the classic, Hoegaarden, which is the original White Ale!
· Serving up some Mexican flare? Throw some Corona into the mix! Corona, which is a Pale Lager with a 4.5% ABV and the perfect pairing, as it was first brewed in 1925 in Mexico City!
· Craving a steak? Try out a Stout! Sierra Nevada makes a mean Stout that will perfectly compliment that delicious slab of meat!
A good rule of thumb to follow when looking for the perfect pairings are…
If your food is sweet, try something with some hops!
Have a rich dessert? Try a Barley Wine!
If your food is rich, something with a little roasted malt will match up nicely
Want to enhance the spiciness in your food? Drink an IPA!
Step 6: HAVE FUN! If you’re having fun, your guests are sure to have a great time!
Cheers!
